This is a refined Italian seal that consists of a waxed turned wooden handle and a bronze disc engraved with a Fleur de Lys.
The fleur-de-lis ( ⚜ ) is one of the four most popular figures, along with multiple crosses, the eagle, and the lion. It is usually classified as a natural figure.
The lily was used by the Carolingian sovereigns, then by their successors, the Ottonian emperors and Capetian kings. It was during the reign of Louis VII that the expression "Fleur-de-lis" appeared and that the "Golden fleurs-de-lis on an azure field" became the arms of France and the specific emblem of the Kings of France.
The fleur-de-lis is one of the oldest emblems in the world.
