Ref: 0009930-6: Seal "Cross of the Templars"

This is a refined Italian seal that consists of a waxed turned wooden handle and a bronze disc engraved with the Templar Cross.

This type of cross also has other names: "solar cross", "solar wheel", or "Celtic cross". With a few exceptions (mantle cross and office cross), it is certain that the shape of the cross was left to the discretion of the dignitaries and commanders.
Templar iconography depicts a simple Greek cross, anchored or adorned with jewels. Whatever its form, the color red is used to indicate the Templars' ties to Christianity, recalling the blood shed by Christ. This cross also expresses the ongoing desire for crusade, in which the Templars are committed to participating at all times.
