This is a refined Italian seal that consists of a waxed turned wooden handle and a bronze disc engraved with a dog.

The dog is mentioned many times in myths and legends. It possesses fantastical attributes, such as multiple heads, the ability to breathe fire, become invisible, guide the souls of the dead, and even devour the moon and the sun.
Later, fantasy literature and cinema were inspired by these legends to create their bestiaries. These dogs always have a strong symbolism linked to their appearance, sometimes inflexible guardians, most of them are associated with the world of the dead, with hell.
In churches, dogs can also be seen at the feet of the figures depicted on a cenotaph (for both women and men). In this case, they symbolize loyalty.
