Ref: 0009930-12: "Ankh" Seal

This is a refined Italian seal that consists of a waxed turned wooden handle and a bronze disc engraved with the "Ankh" symbol.

The ankh is the Egyptian hieroglyph representing the word ˁnḫ , meaning " life ," "key of Isis," or "key of the great mysteries," a term imbued with undeniable magical power. It is an attribute of the Egyptian gods who may hold it by the loop, or carry one in each hand, arms crossed over the chest.
The crux ansata (Anched Cross), or Ankh, was of great importance in ancient Egypt, as a reminder of the gift of life and a symbol of immortality.
It is significant that Egyptian priests in some bas-reliefs are depicted giving life energy with the help of the Ankh, granting immortality to the deceased. This is why the crux ansata has such a compelling talismanic value. The upper loop, circular or oval in shape, can be compared to the ouroboros (a snake biting its tail = eternal cycles of life). The T-shaped cross, however, represents the condition of death (the trance-like state in which the elect find themselves before reaching the Great Mysteries).

Total length of the sealing stamp: 9.5 cm.
Length of the bronze piece screwed to the end of the handle, on which the pellet fits: 1.7 cm.
Diameter of the bronze pellet: 22.5 mm.
Diameter of the screw thread of the pellet: 4 mm.
