English speakers more accurately call it "Indian Ink" because its main component is shellac, which comes from Punjab.
Herbin India ink is very rich in shellac. Its colors are transparent, with the exception of the Black Ink, which is pigmented. It can be used with a pen, brush, or reed pen, and becomes glossy when dry. It is indelible and resistant to water and most solvents.
Artists appreciate it for the permanence of its color.
