Oil Soot Materials

These Chinese ink sticks are made from oil smoke and are recommended for calligraphy and painting. The black type is deep, sophisticated, luminous while not overwhelming. All types of oil soot ink are made with very similar raw materials. High-quality inks may have added aromatic oils such as musk and borneol (widely used in Chinese medicine) or gold leaf. For brighter versions, see also the Super Glossy Black range (Tung, Turpentine). Recommended for beginners, advanced level, intermediate level, professionals. Youyan Mo Chinese ink sticks are made from oil smoke and are recommended for calligraphy and painting.

With a smooth inner surface, it grinds ink well from the stick. To adjust the color intensity, dip the brush into different areas of the inkstone. The more water there is, the less intense the ink color.
